Background Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI)

In order to provide for an ownership structure in Pakistan for remittance facilitation, State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Ministry of Finance launched a joint initiative called Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI). This initiative has been taken to achieve the objective of facilitating, supporting, faster, cheaper, convenient and efficient flow of remittances. This initiative shall take all necessary steps and actions to enhance the flow of remittances.

PRI Objective

The initiative has been taken to achieve the objective of:

1. Facilitating, Supporting, Faster, Cheaper, Convenient & Efficient flow of remittance
2. To promote investment opportunities in Pakistan for overseas Pakistanis.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

An MOU has been signed between MOF & SBP on April 13th 2009 and it was mutually agreed that:

1. MOF shall provide all budgetary support for PRI  to commence its operations & Take necessary steps to achieve its objectives
2. SBP shall provide all human recourse and infrastructural support  to PRI
